The law has changed on used cooking oil......the government could not check or prove how much you used, so they have given up...go ahead, fill your boots. Plenty of suppliers out there, but the problem is can you trust them to filter it right??

As for new cooking oil stop shopping in waitrose and get down to your 99p shop..yep 99p a litre. Or tescos does 5ltr bottles for £5. Do remember that you can't just stick it in a landrover without mods...you can in a 1990's Toyota with no mods at all.. Happy days. You do get very strange looks when your in the 99p shop and you ask for 60 bottles and clear their shelves and stockroom.

Just do it bit by bit to check all is ok if your worried. 80% diesel 20% oil. Then 60-40. Then 50-50. Etc etc. best to not run 100% in winter as the oil gets thic. 50-50 is ok though as I understand uk garages add something extra to diesel to stop it freezing.

Here is a link to the Toyota surf forum which talks about veg oil...it starts with a nice history lesson and has a link to a veg oil users forum.

Apologies........TWO cans of worms!
Firstly there's the tax, HMRC, legality etc. can of worms.
And secondly, there's the "how to do it" can of worms.
You'll get 100 opinions and solutions per can depending on who you ask!

The law is the law and it's clear... As for filtering it that's straight forward and kits are available...couldn't be bothered myself.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
