Latin America Recommended Read
Heading south of the U.S. Border? Well have I come across a book for you!
If Latin America is in your plans, then the "People's Guide to Mexico" is an excellent book. This guide takes off where the other guide books leave off. While Fodor's, Lonely Planet, Insight Guides, etc. will mention the tourist highlights, places to eat and stay, the People's Guide goes into so much more into the hows and whys of Mexico.
While this book is not meant specifically for the motorcycle adventurer, there is a gold mine of useful information. Why for example, if you are off the main highway, you appear to be the best attraction since the circus came to town. Translated terms regarding the road and weather conditions. The pros and cons of staying at higher elevations as opposed to the coast. Camping in Mexico is gone into detail for those of us on a budget. Get the feeling I really like this book?
If you are planning to more than cross off borders on your trip and plan to get some real insight into where you are traveling, check it out.
Oh! and if you happen to be stuck in the middle of no where, waiting on a part, then "The Martian" is a great read. Think Robinson Crusoe meets McGywer in the near future a lot further ways from home.
