There are lots who think Charle and Euan (sp?) are less of Adventures (to put it mildly) due to the support crew in tow..
Trying not to start a bashing thread here .. everyone is entitled to their own view adds to the spice of life provided it is not physically harmfull.

Like most mags - they want you to buy it so they make money to pay for people to write the articals..
Here in OZ we can copy upto 10% of something to study/critize/praise ... don't know what the Brits copywrite law is ..

There must be someone with a copy of the article to give us the jist of things. Ive searched my remaining TBM's and I dont have that issue.
Must admit I like her books and find her write ups in TBM entertaining. I also had the pleasure of meeting Charley and he seemed like a nice enough chap.

The TBM artical you are referring to is issue 150 Feb 08, nothing in the artical appears to be belittling 'Our Charley' and in the photo's that are printed, both seem relaxed and smiling, and I am sure if CB felt he was being belittled he would have got up and walked out, afterall he is a big boy now,I have met Lois a number of times and also ridden some off road events that she as been on,and if anything she is always willing to chat, help out, give advice and answer any questions you wish to ask. I have also met CB and was with him on the 06 Dakar, he even gave me a wristband so I could get into the main bivouac at Lac Rose instead of trying to get past security, He himself is one of 'the lads' until he gets caught up in the media circus. One thing I must ask, Is what was written down in the interview actually what was said?. I know from personal experience that police interviews I have given have not always been written as I have said !.
Right then, who do we try and 'bash' next?

They are lesser adventurers than Lois Pryce and they'd probably agree. I enjoyed LWR but I'm no Boorman fan. Just felt the "slagging" she and the editorial team at TBM published was second-rate, unnecessary and pretty pathetic IMHO.
Anyway, moving on.....

You didn't read the letters in the next issue then.

Look, i'll get straight to the point. I'm sure Charlie and the other fella are nice chaps, but at the end of the day they were on an extended luxury package holiday rather than an expedition
Ex-SAS trooper as bodyguard cum cameraman
Doctor travelling with them
Brand spanking new bikes
Fixer to meet them at difficult borders to sort out any problems
Off road skills training, remote first aid training and SAS training on how to cope with an ambush situations.
Luxury hotels
Large workshop plus office with numerous staff to organise logistics
Large 'Snap On' freebe tool kit, even though it's quite obvious they don't know what to do with them
No doubt this will invite the inevitable "oh you're just jealous " response. Not at all. Would I say no to the same? Don't be daft, but I would then keep the bikes and then go on a proper adventure.

How do you know they haven't? The LWR and LWD where both television productions from the off. As far as I know both of them are keen bikers and own a number of biles so how do any of us know what rides they undertake without a TV crew?

You are correct in saying they are keen bikers, I wasn't disputing the fact, and hats off to them. Do you really believe that had they completed a UK to India or Australia epic then we wouldn't know about it, of course we would. I admire them for their dreams and at the end of the day they still had to ride their bikes, but i'm sure alot on here agree that London to New York for the average Joe cannot be compared in any way to the trip them pair did.

Without a doubt neither LWR or LWD represent anything like the kind of trip that most mere mortals would undertake, but to me it's just the equivelant of somone paying to join a RTW expedition with the likes of Kudo (chosen simply because they are advertising on this page as I type).
It's a sanatised version of just loading up your bike and going for it yourself but it's still an adventure for the people that do it, just with all of the bumps ironed out.

We were talking about the interview, not the 'letters, sent after by off road, enduro, moto x readers, or TBM staff to fill space.:confused1:
