I'll be skiing at Alpine this Saturday (next to Blue Mountain). Back in London for some sledding on Sunday (near St. Thomas).
Ron,
Having finally pulled the trigger on selling my bike - it's tempting to get a new version of it (I really love the KTM Adventure). But, the ability to replace it with two bikes (covering the full dirt and touring spectrum) was and is the final goal here. So, I'll make it a priority to focus my efforts on finding two worthy replacements. The 990 might be on the radar again in 5 years time - maybe they'll have it ironed out by then.
In fact, maybe KTM will have a 690 Adventure by then.

3 weeks if you're on a 450!
Maybe early August?

August sounds good. Let's circle back later this year.
Also, I plan to have a decent touring bike by that time - so the pace will not be a problem.
When are we meeting up for some food...... I'm HUNGRY!!!!!!

Wow...you're on a roll Uber. 25 posts and you're not banned yet
Now's the time to look for a new steed...prices always jump when the snow melts and don't forget about that silly HST, whenever that kicks in. It'll affect you if you're buying private.
Ohhh, just thinking. Maybe its best you give the cash you get for your bike to one of us for safe keeping or it could end up being spent on a ring

RallyRaid Ontario 2010 details/ideas:
-NAVIGATIONAL RALLY-
The route will be made up of a series of waypoints. At each waypoint there's a marker with a code. Each rider must locate the marker and write down the code (yes, with a pen and paper).
The waypoints will be in order, following them will reveal the route. The challenge is to spot all the markers. Thus, it's not a race. The winner will be he/she who spots all the markers. The emphasis is on precision and accuracy, not speed.
To prevent tie's, some markers will be placed amongst difficult terrain. Hence, not everyone will find them - thus, an alternate route around that area will be used as an option-out route. Also, there will be a time limit. Say, 6pm. So, people will have to strike a balance between finding as many markers as possible and making it back on time. As such, the route will be a loop. If a waypoint is missed, all is not lost - the next waypoint will keep you on track.
As for the event itself, a campground will act as the staging area (the location is yet to be determined). To take part in the event will be free; camping and food will be separate.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
