Stanley Glanfield RTW 1927 to 1928
Hello, I dont post much on here but I thought that some people might interested in an article in this months VMCC magazine about Stanley Glanfield. It is written by his grand daughter who became interested in his trip after seeing LWR and so she went away and researched his trip from his diaries.
Stanley, for those who don't know of him (e.g. me), went round the world in 1927 to 1928 on a Rudge combination that he called Nippy. There is a picture of the bike which is now in the Coventry Transport Museum with the route listed on the front of the sidecar. The route is stated as:
London, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Anatolia, Syria, Mesopotamia, India, Malay Straits, Java, Australia, America, London
From the article he seems to have been an interesting character who did a lot more than just the RTW trip.
