The Telegraph Adventure Travel Show
It's on the 28th and 29th January.
To people who have been in previous years, Is it any good or is it just a load of package tour operators trying to flog you "adventure holidays"
Once you've paid you £8 entry what do you get??
If I make a trip to london for this will I come back better equiped for my world trip??

The dates are different
The dates are different, but could this be the same show?
ExCeL : Home
I saw it advertised on the tube lines and it includes outdoors, boats and bikes + some other theme that I don't remember, but = 4 shows for the price of one.

Adventure Travel Show 2012 :: Visitor Information Show Features Talks
It has a few talks, but so do the HUBB meetings at Ripley and elsewhere.
Sorry to confuse your query with yet another show.

Austin Vince will be doing a talk, so I expect there are lots of other interesting peoples to listen to, but otherwise lots of bling to buy. Good I suppose if you are in the market and want to get your hands on the latest stuff.

Went once, in 2002, bought only one thing - the AMH - never looked back! They used to have a mini version at The Watershed up until 199? which I much preferred.
IMHO, you should put your money towards your trip

funny some of the comments are similar to the 'hubb ripley is not value for money'.
£6 entry to an event in London is mega cheap, as long as you don't buy anything there (that includes £8000 Charley Boorman tours, right down to teas and coffees).
Its an opportunity to listen to the speakers and meet really interesting people. My friend went to one of these Excel sailing shows, with a flask and sarnies, and ended up with a dozen business cards, and on her next trip ended up with two weeks worth of free accommodation and hospitality. Its who you know, not what you pay.
Another thing I do is collect all the nice travel brochures and use them for scrapbooking for the kids!

thinking out loud here,
however there has to be said something about the difference between dreaming and getting on with it, you could go for an explore that weekend rather than being dragged around an exhibition hall being reminded of how materially poor you are, could go for a weekend away somewhere new and different, or save that fuel/tube money for the big one.

Quite a good little show - been a few times and had fun - certainly a good distraction for a few hours.
I shot a video on their first year
Daily Telegraph Advenute Travel Show | Journey To Russia on Blip
it's an early video so don't judge me!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
