XT Girls are back - Did you miss us???

We're finally back off our 5,000 km trip round Namibia, Botswana & South Africa... and I thought I'd check in and say we're still alive!!

As you know, we chose an honorary XT Girl from HU to take Gigi's place [Javajunkie!] - and, despite being AMERICAN, he was an absolute TREAT!! (read more about how he [barely] survived on our website!!)

We were so busy being macho and riding the 'tough stuff' that we didn't take many pictures, sorry. Here's one though. (isn't he ADORABLE?!)

The SUBSTITUTE XT GIRL, is the one on the left, by the way. Just in case there's any confusion. (We love you Javajunkie!!)

I've been updating our XT Girls website with some stories etc. If you OPEN THE BOOK, you can navigate to the trip reports etc.

..

Hey good to see you back!

Looks like you had a fab time - where are all the photos!?

What did you learn then? If there was one vital piece of information you could impart on us, one gem, what would it be?

Oh - thats easy:

"AMERICANS RULE!"

Seriously -- poor Javajunkie went home empty handed, after I just about confiscated ALL his FABULOUS equipment...

Yes, its a bitter pill to swallow that, indeed, the Americans utterly deserve the MORAL HIGH GROUND for just having the COOOOLEST most EFFECTIVE and CLEVER equipment for the long road.

Just about EVERYTHING I proudly obtained from the UK came a poor second to the stuff that just kept coming out of the Yank's (amazingly effective) goody bag!

Here's a list of things:

Bourbon
Tent
Sleeping bag
Insect Killer
Luggage Straps
Lentil Stew
Mattress
Core Cooler
Leatherman Tool
Kitchen Sink

etc. etc.

In due course, I will write reviews etc. to update everyone..

**Ofcourse - the AMAZING things Africa had on offer, could not be beaten by even the Yanks... including biltong... SNUFF CANONS... and... intoxicating newspaper print.**

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
