The
Trans Morocco Trail is like TET etc:
verified tracklogs and waypoints free to download.
It comes in Google's kml format; for the more useful .gpx version,
click this.
After that it's all up to you: do it all; do bits leaving your vehicle there, or use rentals.
Plan it minutely for months on end, or just wing it.
Map includes verified fuel stations as well as some suggested lodgings and village fuel (will be needed for some motos).
Like the NC500 etc, it is of course nothing more than a network of long existent public rights of way threaded together and given a catchy name starting with ‘Trans’. And like my M4 book, the TMT is
not pitched a hardcore off-road challenge because TIA and there'll be enough challenges once out there. Tarmac stages may run for an hour or more, but these are great mountain roads or desert highways which are all part of the overland adventure.
The full 3250-km TMT went up Xmas Eve 2024.
I chose what I considered to be the best contiguous pistes from the 70-odd routes in my new M4 book (see sig) plus what Ed Gill found on the Rekkam that will be doable on the widest range of motos, gravel bikes or any car with clearance.
The
blue and
orange lines are just a way of showing alternating stages clearly.
Each section has a summary on the map, but some will be highly unsuited to unfit riders on tall, heavy, overloaded motos on a very hot day.
Road or trail, there's always an easier way round that will often be as much fun, or a way to recover.
I estimate 3 weeks to cover A to Z comfortably with a rest day or two.
You don't need to buy my M4 book to follow the TMT, but there's another ~17,000km of routes, as well as descriptions which include long TMT stages. Could be useful as
a tracklog is just a line across the landscape.
