Go for a Garmin one, failing that a decent GPS unit that makes waypoints and read a map. I wouldn't trust anything like a TomTom in the middle of russia.....

varied responses
I'm sure the TomTom people would object but, it's true that if you're going to lock yourself into one of these proprietory GPS 'systems' my first choice would be (is) Garmin. An Etrex Vista to be precise.

Me too
If Runner's V is sold I have one too, but only with the worldmap. I can provide an 'unofficial' version of the European maps mind you.
Once Runner's is sold I will be getting rid of mine, either on eBay or here. Not sure how much, but as cheap as needs be ........

Gps V
Im off to sunny Syria tomorrow so in practical terms the GPS V is not going anywhere til I get back at the end of August. But it will be for sale then. Im looking for about £100 for it (which seems to be what they go for on eBlag) but open to offers.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
