I wish that was true Bertrand.
but by carrying a pot and tripod I can raise it far enough above the inferno to cook.
These days I leave it at home, in fact not sure where it is and use my 16 year old £10 gaz stove. It is much better. Even last year when I went camping with the car, the gaz stove was my cooker of choice. I can do a brew up quicker with it than I can get the omnifuel put together and fired up.

The postal charges from France to UK are now horrendous. o0ften more than the object is worth. I sent a jacket to a friend and it was over 45 euros.
Plus I would have to find the omnifuel, most likely it is either in the junk room or a barn, but I really don't know where it is, haven't seen it for over a year. Last time I used it it was to melt grease for a chain, but that didn't work out ( grease would not melt). I know where the spare 1 litre fuel bottle is because I carry that as spare fuel for the bike (worth 20 miles). was so disappointed with it i just lost all interest in it, although I am considering making a little stove housing for my little gaz stove so it can work well in high winds. atthe same time i hope to have variable height place to rest a pot. that might be the way to adjust the inferno down to a simmer. I like to slow cook one pot wonder and just let the pot simmer VERY gently for an hour or so. Maybe I should take up Wok cooking
Even so it really is a pain in the A$$ to put together and fired up for a quick cup of tea. So much so when I have it with me I seldom can be bothered to use it.
I have seen people using Coleman 533/sportsters and they seem much simpler to operate.
The real problem with all of them is unlike the old paraffin primus types the modern stoves have very small vapouriser units so when shut down to a simmer gradually cool and stop vapourising. When they go out they are a nuisance to relight to start cooking again. after twice having to change over to the gaz stove to continue cooking I got to the state where it just wasn't worth while taking it.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
