There are Nomad rear tanks here in Aus, only 8litre but hang over the rear end of the bike, and or some crew have added/mounted the acerbix yamaha side guard/cover rear tanks (dakar style) not sure the lt's but work in well with many bikes, or try the link below (non english but cool pics) cheers al

Fuel Tanks! Phew
Hi there,
I also own a XR 650L. Mine only has the stock 10lt tank that will get you round the block about 2 and a half times. If you manage to sorce a 40 lt tank I would be keen to buy your old tank of you. It would get me started and offset some of the cost of your new one.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,
My bike is in Queensland Australia. I have been looking for a 40l tank for a while now, they are very difficult to source. I want some more fuel up front so I don't have to carry so much in my rear panniers. If I do manage to get a 40l tank Ill get back to you regarding my acerbis tank. I'm not sure how long that will take.
Cheers,
Doug
PS thanks endurotour I'm looking into those options you've mentioned.

Have a look at www.safaritanks.com
I saw their add in an Aussie mag and they appear to be well respected.
Good luck
