xr 650l tank
Hi Phil,it would seem that it is a tank for a suzuki dr650 and not an xr650l.
But i think you know already. You stated on ukgser that it wouldn,t fit your xr
so it will be no good to me.

it will not fit the XR600? Large Acerbis Tank 25L + pics here
but from my enquiries it MIGHT fit the XR650L or Older XL600 , I think the mounting at the rear are the Key to solving this mystery , Sorry it was a red herring for you , someone will come along and get a bargain for Their Travels

I have exactly the same tank (except it's white) on my XR600R for the last 10yrs. Phil's pictures don't show the metal plates with the rubber bobbins that form the front fixing or the clamp arrangement that does the rear but by altering those I would have thought the tank would fit a number of different bikes.
Chris Scott did a trans Sahara trip on XR650Ls some years ago and used the same tank on his bike so it will fit. The report about it on his website had loads of pics with the tank on the bike and talked about the mods they made to it for desert use.

I am stunned that there is a EX Watergrasshill resident on this site
did our paths cross while resident ?
I had a quick look at your websites and your intrests seem to cross mine ,
Currently down in spain trying to chase a bit of reluctent sun
This Tank Belongs to a friend of mine , and the tank is getting in my way
He bought it off a friend thinking it was for a XR400 ,
tank is new I am told the fitting are there but have not seen them
His bottom line on the tank is Euro 100 , he paid more than that , but the shipping is the problem . I will be in the UK hopefully next week for the CLASSIC Off road show in Telford
must search for Chris scott Adventure , but i have the Books at home

Hi Lads,
I'll take a few pics of the brackets I have and post them here as soon as I can. I suppose I could keep it till I buy a bike it will fit.

I doubt it Phil. My residency dates back to the 50's when my parents lived in Scartbarry for a few years and I was still in nappies.
I also had various aunts, uncles and cousins scattered around the village with the main ones in St Stephens Terrace.
I spent many a happy summer there fetching water from the hand pump at the end of the road and running errands to Mescalls. Been a decade or two since I was last there though.

It does fit with little work. You are missing one fine and extreme rare tank here!
Mine is allready 16 years on my bike.
Get a hand on it as still available.Mine is white, but done an over condo!
It takes 42-43 liters.
