Good idea
You are right to have a drop wallet or steal wallet, though I would not even put old id in that as I would not want to be traced.
I also use a drop wallet with a small amount of currency in it, the bare minimum.
I have a money belt with Euro in it and a small looped pouch that goes inside my trousers but also contains currency. In addition I have an ankle wallet (Pacsafe) I think. I have travelled for 42 years and only once had someone try to rob me in Spain, they were Roma Gypsy people. In effect I reckon don't pull all your financial eggs in one basket and diversify, spread the risk around your body. Don't flaunt your money, wear a cheap watch and be careful at ATMs. Always be aware of your surroundings and look out for potential threats. I hope this helps, its my experience.
