Bike Insurance
Doing 17 Countries and need adequate bike insurance. France Germany Poland Slovakia Hungary Romania Moldova Ukraine Bulgaria Serbia Montenegro Bosnia Segovia Croatia Slovenia Austria Czech Republic. My normal Insurance Company will cover a lot of these but not all. Can get Green Card Insurance for all these countries from Company in Netherlands for Euros 315 but ouch, expensive! Anyone got any ideas. Need to get this sorted by 26th May and away 5 weeks.

I just called the ADAC in Germany and they told me it might be a bit tricky since your bike is probably not registered in Germany.
However they did give me a phone number of one of their departments (called the "Grenzverkehrsabteilung"... go figure) where you can call and ask about insurance, and if they can't help you directly they should be able to tell you where and whom to ask. I was told they do speak English so give it a try:
0049-89-76766338
0049-89-76766331
0049-89-76766342
Good luck

That department sells insurance to foreigners with foreign registered bikes, i bought some last year. You have to turn up in person. there is a post about it somewhere...

Answer to your FAQ: get the Green Card from your current insurer. For those countries outside the EU where your GC is not valid you will have to buy insurance at the border.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
