Easy to use trip map tracking tool?
Hi Peeps
Just about to kick off 2nd Ushuia to Cartagena trip and would like to keep family and friends updated on trip progress, specifically where we are and a route of the trip so far.
We used to use travelpod but this is now extinct
Can anyone recommend an easy to use journey tracking tool / app that
a) A numpty can use on the move
b) we can link to a website / facebook page so people can log in and see a map of the journey so far?
Thanks again to your wonderful HUBBers for the help and suggestions
Cheers
Barney

Thanks Cambelt - alas I am one of those donuts on IOS who pay $700 for a battery that lasts a year and 2 days. The crossover to Android will happen but not in time for this trip!

Bubbler is an app that interfaces with spotwalla to produce tracking maps.
May be just for android but the spotwalla site should have a suggestion for ios.
Other option is toi use a garmin/delorme outreach which is two way sat tracker that also works with spotwalla

Check out the new Travel Stories on HU.
Great new features include mapping, though maybe not in the way you're thinking - yet. You can upload a GPX file that will show your route to date. Does that work for you?
Have a look, there's lots of great features (and more to come) and it's right here on HU!

Regarding your item b. logging in - no need for others to login to see what you've uploaded on HU Travel Stories, and your family and friends can sign up with just their email address to get your updates - no account required - perfect for the non Facebook etc generation

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
