Khartoum fighting...
whilst the short-term security is down the pan this might turn out to be good news... The fact that the Sudanese Govt hasn't been able to dislodge the JEM from Omdurman (a bit like the Tooting Liberation Front having occupied all of South London to the bank of the river and not being opposed significantly for those who know London...) suggests that the govt is actually going to be out fairly soon... if all their soldiers are off in Darfur pretending to be Janjaweed then the JEM might actually grab Khartoum, in which case the Chadian rebels are suddenly caught between the Chadian army, backed by the EU force, and the new Sudanese military - that'll leave them nowhere to operate in Northern Sudan and so with luck there won't be any more incursions into the Gilf...
Guess we just have to wait and see...
