france 21 & 22 march 09
ALL the french road users associations, including the FFMC ( riders rights group) are calling for a week end of demonstrations the 21st & 22nd of march throughout france. It's to protest against the proposed legislation "V.E." which is too long a complicated for me to explain here) but you shuld be aware that road movements in & around majour population centers will be difficult & that the police forces will be particularly targeting bikes...

Thanks for that. As usual the news passed me by (it doesn't seem to reach Brittany).
Do you have a link, no doubt in French, for more details?

here is the relevant part of the message my local FFMC rep sent me (the rest being info on the local demo)
"Bonsoir
inutile."

update on this...
it would appear thet sufficient pressure has been exerted without going out in the streets. The project has been shelved, allegedly, at least as far as motorcycles are concerned. The FFMC are consulting at the moment as to wether we maintain the demos anyway, cancel or maintain the demos but turn it into a victory celbration do...
I'll keep you posted.

I had a communiqué from our local FFMC branch this afternoon
the demo is still taking place, but as we've already won it will be a festive occasion, still riding "en masse" through town butwith the aim of explaining to motorists the why & wherefore.
theres nothing yet on the national website about what's happening in each departement.
stay safe

communiqué de presse FFMC, for those that can read french.
"

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
