Government Travel Advice - A Change in Perspective
There is an interesting article in today's edition of the Globe & Mail, which is Canada's newspaper of record.
In the article, the Canadian Health Minister is advising Canadians to reconsider international travel, not because of the risk of getting sick from the virus, but because of the risk that "returning to Canada will likely involve delays and hassle" (his words).
Fascinating to see that government officials are now acknowledging what we in the overlanding community have been aware of for quite a long time.
Here's the link - it might be behind a paywall, but I don't think it is: Canadians travelling abroad face ‘risky and unstable’ situation, Health Minister says.

The link in the original post led me to the Globe and Mail site, but I never did manage to find an article which seemed to fit the title or description. A site search returned a hit on the headline ("Canadians Traveling Abroad Face 'Risky and Unstable' Situation...") but no articles referring to anything about what the health minister apparently said, much less what any overloading community already knew.
On the other hand, it's good to have a back door to the Globe and Mail site, which has previously demanded money for access.

Hi Mark:
It appears that the newspaper made significant changes to the original article since I posted the link. That is surprising... normally newspapers don't do that, or if they do, they add a note at the bottom advising what changes have been made.
The Minister's statement about "delays & hassles" is still mentioned in the revised article, but it's buried about halfway down the story, instead of its original position as the lede of the story.
Apropos of paywalls, the Globe & Mail puts about half of its stories behind a paywall, but the other half are generally accessible.
