Many thanks, FreedomTraveler!
I've seen this site before. Very quick and easy. It may be helpful for those who want immediate info from a non-governmental agency. Am not familiar with the makers, where they source their info, and how often things are updated, so wouldn't be able to vouch for them 100%. HU is more likely to cite official organizations and governmental agencies.

Cheers!

Smile September 1 Update

September 1 Update

We keep in touch with our organizing teams and monitor travel restrictions and local health authority updates right up to the remaining HU events this year: France and South Africa. These updates get posted on the 1st and 15th of each month
Please check with reliable local travel authorities to confirm relevant details and follow their directions, especially if you have been travelling and have been trying to return home.

What happens if an HU event goes ahead?
When travel restrictions in Europe eased open, we asked local organizing teams to submit in advance a COVID-19 health and safety action plan that describes how they will manage things before, during, and after their event. It took much time on their part to coordinate details with the venues and accommodations. We’re grateful for their efforts and commitment!
If you are considering attending an HU Travellers Meeting this year, then we ask that you respect fellow travellers and communities as ambassadors for the HU tribe with physical distancing, wearing masks when you are not able to physical distance (especially when indoors), and washing your hands frequently and thoroughly. Please do not travel to the event if you are feeling even a little bit ill or suspect that you may be ill. Write us why you’re not coming and we will forward your registration to next year!

The following links may be helpful for those who are planning their route to get back home.
1. Official Global Travel Advisory(Government of Canada):
https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories
This is intended for Canadians, but you may find it helpful. The “Entry/Exit Requirements” tab for each country likely applies to all travellers. It also shows when the info for each country was last updated.
2. IATA – International Air Transport Association – A helpful site related to air transport (e.g., bike shipping).

3. COVID-19 Travel Regulations Map, interactive (IATA):

CURRENT STATUS OF ALL 2020 HU EVENTS:

All event dates are subject to change, so stay tuned. Note that if an event is able to proceed, then we will limit the total event group size according to local health authorities. We aim to announce any event postponements at least TWO months in advance or as best as we can, and unless local governments make a change that forces a cancellation. We will always make decisions with safety of both yourselves and the local Community an absolute first priority.
  • HU France (Sep 18-20, 2020): POSSIBILITY OF POSTPONEMENT (TBC) - STAY TUNED! Remember that changes can happen quickly closer to the event date.*** PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. *** MAXIMUM LIMIT IS 150 PEOPLE. WE ARE ALMOST FULL, 134 at this posting. Registration closes when full. Please do not just show up as our team MUST turn you away at the gate, and they really don't want to have to do that.
  • HU South Africa (Nov 5-8, 2020): Currently no change. STAY TUNED.

We’re still monitoring local travel restrictions and health authority news. For those of you who were in the middle of travels during this past year, we hope you have made it back to home or somewhere safe. We’re grateful for everyone in the HU global community who have helped and are helping fellow travellers.

HU Newfoundland date is set to August 3-6, 2021

HU Newfoundland, August 3-6, 2021

Lead Organizer David Moores says: "This is very good for us. Weather patterns are better, it's in the middle of the summer for people from afar"

So time to start making your plans!

October 1 update

Horizons Unlimited France happened, September 18-20. Susan and I Skyped in to say hi. All went well and it sure was fantastic to see everyone’s smiles! We’re pleased that folks enjoyed a safe and healthy weekend of reconnection and fun.

From the HU France Team:
"It was of course a challenge considering the period and the special disposition we had to make, but our COVID plan has been well set and applied... we wanted, Joelle, Laurence, Laurent and I, to deeply thank you for this incredible moment we share yesterday, being all together – even virtually – you and us for a couple of minutes! It was a true and sincere emotion. We displayed the call on a large projection screen with sufficient sound for all the 140 attendees being able to see and hear you... we finished today after lunch and had a lot of good and warm feedbacks, smiles, and thanks, before people leave."
Well done to the HU France Team, and everyone that attended!

HU South Africa (November 5-8) is next, and please note the revised 2021 date for HU Newfoundland.

While the next update is scheduled for October 15th, stay tuned for updates anytime between now and end of October about HU South Africa, because it’s coming up fast.

CURRENT STATUS OF 2020 HU EVENTS:
  • HU South Africa (Nov 5-8, 2020): Currently no change. STAY TUNED.
2021 HU EVENTS - Changes:
  • HU Newfoundland (August 3-6, 2021) – THIS IS THE NEW DATE. We did say this might change to earlier in August – much better weather!

New to Horizons Unlimited?

New to motorcycle travelling? New to the HU site? Confused? Too many options? It's really very simple - just 4 easy steps!

Horizons Unlimited was founded in 1997 by Grant and Susan Johnson following their journey around the world on a BMW R80G/S.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
