I was watching an Itchy Boots video from earlier this week (10 January 2022?) where she was crossing the border between Equador and Columbia. She managed it but couldn't get her SOAT at the border as their computer was down so she went back the next day - the border looked very closed so I get the impression that things are still changing on a day to day basis.

Border status
And remember on thing.
You can't talk about a border status without mention the direction.
It is the country that you enter that decides the entry criteria.
So if Country A is closed for entry
But Country B is not
A to B is "open"
B to A is "closed".
This is not an exception. But has been very common. At least in Europe.
Where some countries believe in protection themselves by closing borders.
Others do not think that the virus cares about borders.
So in this case.
Colombia was open for entering.
But that do not give any information about if Ecuador is open to enter from Colombia.

open
Ecuador is open you have to walk or take a taxi into Ecuador with your covid pcr test and proof of vacs to the ministry of Salud and get a approval then walk or taxi back to Colombia , get a exit stamp, then drive into Ecuador
If there is one thing I figure out on the tenth Dec when the news of opening was that Colombia doesn't have any employees left in Immigration and aduanas.
they are short staffed and you have to do your own application for TIVP on line same goes for Immigration for a extension.
At the border the officers are only concentrating on Commercial traffic

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
