Nepal - Freight Problems For Bikes- Warning

Hey guys,

Just a heads up,

We have ridden form the Uk to Dubai VIA Iran as we could not get our Visa for Pakistan, like most we had planned to Freight the bike to Nepal, but we have been talking to Freighters for 2 days and it turns out that at the moment there is a freight problem (embargo or inbargo) and they are only accepting small packages under certain dimensions and most (if not all) bikes are to big.

SO we have having to go to India instead. We are going to fly the bike to Deli or Mumbai. On another note if anyone has recently freighted at bike to India do you know how easy it was to clear customs?? We know a few years ago it was very difficult, but we know its supposed to be better now but like most these things people only write about it if its really bad or really good!!

This may effect you if you are flying in from Thailand aswell, so just a heads up!!

Safe Journey

J

hey!

We just came for Dubai and shipped the bikes with emirates to Delhi.
Please be carefull that the agent (pakking the bikes) Makes the krates as small as possible!!!!!!!!!
The chargeble weight =kg volume (not the weight of your bikes) . Emirates Cargo are realy professional ask for mister Bader or mister Ferros, they will help you with everything!!
When you arrive in Delhi take a cabe to terminal 2 (cargo) here you will(propably) go from office to office. at the cargo office of your choosen company you must pay for the releas forms+/_1500 Rs. Then they sent you to custum office then they will sent you to custum house(1 km walk)
They will check the Carnets...a lot of paperwork.... custums will charge you 600 Rs. (bankfies). Here an inspector will check your bike at the cargo. Cargo handeling charges are based on total kg of your packedge(10 Rs p/kg).

If you are lucky you'll get it done in 1 day.... Custums where verry helpfull to us.

Greetings Roy & Lathoya Actueel - De Jimdo-website van nowayback!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
