Thank you all for your advice about the carnet.
I did by the bike last week of Ramadan, and have had a wonderful time since then. Driving in Yemen is increadibly beautiful. The bike has no plates and the customs have not been cleared - but that did not prevent me from going around most paved roads in the country. Police has no problem with unregistered bikes I guess. So before I get Carnet, I have to try to get it registered first - they are telling me it is almost impossible, but I will try.
To answer Margus - why not go through Saudia - is that I am a woman. Women are not allowed to drive there, can not enter the country alone without a male escort, can not get a visa without a male escort - or a very influential Saudi sponsor, and can not go around the country alone without a male escort. But bottomline is that women are not allowed to drive - cars or anything, and it can be very unpleasant country to be in for a foreign woman. So that takes care of Saudia. I have lived in Yemen for almost two years, and I really love this country. I am the first woman that lives here and drives a bike and have had no problems. But driving a motorbike across Saudia is not going to happen I guess.
Thanks again to everybody,
Irina
