Shipping a motorcycle into Callao/Peru
Hey everyone,
I'm planning on shipping my bike LCL from Australia to Latin America. I'm not too bothered where I'd ship it and Callao/Peru I got the cheapest rates by far (about $400 cheaper than Santiago, Chile).
However, I couldn't seem to find recent reports on how hard it is to get my bike out of the port there. I've read fractioned reports saying A) that someone wouldn't get a permit at all and had to transport their crate to the next border or B) had to pay $300 just to get the bike out of the port and then had to get RWC etc, lots of bureaucracy. I have patience but would like to save money and hassle if possible.
In that sense, do you guys have any idea what the cost would be to get my bike from Callao sea port onto the road, especially compared to Santiago/Chile?
(I'd even consider starting the trip in Central America -- has anyone shipped their bike into Balboa/Panama?)
Thanks in advance,
Michael
