stolen KLR 650
A friend just posted on another site about seeing a green KLR650 in Copper Canyon that was obviously a stolen bike. It had a damaged ignition, various other signs of bad treatment. He is there waiting on parts for his KLR so he can return home to Louisianna. He was at the Traveler's Meeting. Anyway, here is the VIN

Easy Tiger.......
A damaged ignition tumbler is not conclusive proof it's stolen. I used to ride a scruffy 550/4 with a few toggle switches in lieu of a proper ignition tumbler because my key snapped off in the ignition....
How do you know someone else did not try stealing it but failed, leaving the ignotion damaged - I've also had this happen to me twice.
It's a KLR, some do get ridden offroad & have suffered neglect or abuse, still not proof of theft.....

Steve - very true words
Pilot - thanks for the info I know if my bike was stolen and someone ran the vin number where I could find it it would help a lot. Provided you want it back after any additional abuse.

I didn't get to go. The KLR in question is one that rolled up to the hotel Chuck is stuck at waiting for parts. I didn't post the list of signs of being stolen, only that Chuck thought it looked like it. It's not a bad thing to post about a possible stolen bike. Very well could be legit, but someone might just be missing one.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
