Tourist visas in Jordan, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, U
Hello again. At 1st tnx a lot for your replies on my previous topic, they were very helpful. Now my friend needs some add. info about getting visas on border. Which of the folowing countris issue visas on border (or do they all require to visit their embassies)?
Jordan, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Macedonia, Albania

Hai,

As far as I know you can get: Turkey, Macedonia and Albania at the border. For the rest you need to go to the ambasy.

But.... these rules are for dutch people, other nationality's might be different.

For Ukraine, you need to get the visa in advance. It is very expensive. I don't know about the others.

I went to Russia 9 years ago. I needed to get a visa ahead of time, cost 75-100 USD for a US citizen. I don't think this has changed.

Kyril Dambuleff (USA) did a number of countries in 1998, including Turkey, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine.

Hi Gypsy,
I travelled to Murmansk in the Russian Arctic last year onboard a Cagiva Elefant and got my Russian visa at a travelbureau in Kirkennes in northern Norway, it was about US$80 for a fast visa.

Hi, I have just been in touch with all those Countries, Belarus, Russia and Ukraine all want a complete itinery booked through an official travel agent before they will issue a visa for UK nationals, all hotels must be booked in advance and date of entry and exit from the countries, in fact everything that takes the fun out of travelling by motorcycle.
Georgia still hasn't got back in touch. Jordan is best to get it before you arrive at the boarder but their embassy says it shoud be no trouble to get it in a neighbouring country and for Turkey they give three months at the boarder. Regards Chris

All embassies that got back in touch say a tourist visa is no problem as long as everything is booked in advance.

The reserve all hotels in advance is a scam by the russian embassies. Anyone appling in Beijing, Mongolia(Usually Aussies travel this way around the world) must have all the hotels booked. I tried for months in both places and finally sent my passport to the a travel agent in New York where I have received two others with no problems. No travel plans ect was required. Try to get your visa's in a First world country before leaving. The invitation is the problem. Russian embassies are not consistant. They usually have scams with the travel agents "they suggest" you use(part of the cut). That's Russia. I go there again this summer.

Hi

travelled in Turkey, Syria, Jordan and onwards in 1999/2000, Turkish visa was issued at the border, we got a Syrian visa in Istanbul and again issued at the border for Jordan - visa'a in Jordan can be renewed at a Police Stn if necessary and was free.
Egyptian visa was issued in Aqaba very efficiently.

I'm just come back home after a ride around the Mediterranean.
I had the visa issued on border by Jordan and Turkey. I'm italian, I don't know if is the same for other nationalities.
In Jordan you need also the carnet, in Turkey only if you enter from a country which request it, for example Iran (not from Syria or Greece).

Visa requirement differs between every country and therefore any advice is very hard. BUT! one advice to your friend ;
Dont think of going to Russia via Georgia or vice versa.. That part ( called Abhazya ) is no mans land and if something happens robbery is the best you can get.. so stay away from there..
