The full story and all the details can be found at www.renedian.com, but in short we were riding in a caravana following the final route of Che Guevara near La Higuera, when Amy highsided. It was one of those silly - didn`t look too bad - accidents, but she wholloped her leg as she came off the bike between the knee pad in her pants and the plastic shin in her moto boots. It cracked the tibia plateau and torn the posterior cruciate ligament. We opted for surgery in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and she is now back in Pennsylvania, USA with here moto, learning to walk again and getting her strength back. Its going well, but the doctors in the US are quick to point out that the style of surgery she had hasn`t been done in 20 years in the US, despite all of our contacts with insurance medical professionals in the US before the surgery to check if everything sounded right.
