Those Charity stuff is more for your own ego, than really helpful.

You can too discuss any development aid very controversial...

Getting sponsored by manufactures for your own purpose - can work but is work. If it is worth the work - I dont know. It is easier to get equipment stuff for the buldup of the vehicle - as to get real money.

So maybe you can optain oil if you put some stickers on, or an discount for your buy if you mention them on your homepage.

To get "real" sponsoring is a fulltime job.

Bevore you go this way you have to write a Blog / Website and get an bigger level of attention at the sovial media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Youtube) - what means you have to have an good amount of followers - have to produce contenct for optaining them and so on.

Writing Articles for Newspaper, giving Interviews, get attention.

To get such an Level you need 2 Years for Setting everything up - and to produce content what brings you the required attention.

Also jour journey has to be documented well, photography/Video/Articles.

This way sponsoring can generate a good amount of money - but this is nothing for "just" a trip - this is a complete new live model / job.

That is a own job, own pressures (to deliver, to produce attention) - nothing what most of us travellers really want on such a trip..

To do a normal job for saving money, and going travelling without pressure - sound like the better deal to me.

You will see on your africa journey many developement aid who is going wrong.. You will change your focus during your jorney. Do charity afterwards - if you see something who may work.

Hi Surfy,
thank you for the response but I think I was not clear enough. I would like to let me get sponsored for every km and then if Im back will donate the money I collected to a charity which is not me of course for example street children or an orphanage or clearing mines in Angola for example.
If I need some funds for myself personally I will throw a bbq in my town which Im planning.
Cheers
Kenny

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
