Flying with Multi-burner Stoves (MSR, Primus, etc)
Hi all,
On my way back to Santiago my much cherished Primus omnifuel somehow disappeared from my checked-in luggage. I think it was probably stolen because surely if they had confiscated it, they would have put some sort of notice in the bag? Who knows.
I've replaced it with a second-hand Whisperlight - I'm paranoid now. I suppose the actual stove can be checked in with hand luggage providing there is zero smell or residue. However, what about the fuel bottle? I suppose I can always buy another in when I return to Chile, but they're very expensive for a tin bottle.
I flew out via Dubai from Manchester last time with my (brand new) Primus. The women in Dubai gave a disgusted look at it and asked me what it was, but I just said it was a camping stove. The UK authorities said nothing. Someone said put stove in Hand luggage, put stickers over the fuel bottle to disguise it as a waterbottle. Ideas or experiences appreciated!
Cheers
