How do you do it?
Hi all travelers
Since I found Horizons Unlimited I have been hooked on it; thank you Grant and Susan. I am myself going on the road next year, like so many of you. Travelling for many months around the world or just visiting few countries costs money and takes time away from work and family. From what I see on the web, some people do long trips quite frequently and are highly involved into global traveling on two wheels.
I'm curious to know more about us, the travellers; how we organice our travelling and how our situation is (family, work, money, sponsers, state of mind and etc).
I'm very interested to hear your story, all of it. I'm myself single, without children so all my savings are spend on traveling and motorbiking. I rent small, cheep apartment since I don't want to spend all my money on concrete. I don't buy fasion clothing since then I would have to cut down money on travelling. In fact most of the clothes I by are travel/hiking related. I will be traveling alone since all af my motorbiking friends have families and mortgage loans to pay. I have thought about getting sponsers to finance part of my trip, but nothing has been desited.
Looking forward to hear from you,
Jakob

Hello,
Make a sport of living cheap. Go to cheap countries, cook your own meals, go to campsites if you want to meet some people, but you safe money to camp in the woods.
Try to avoid tollroads, tollbridges and ferries.
Countries where it often rains are more expensive to;the choise to take a hotel or restaurant is easy made.
If you come to the Netherlands, You can use my logcabin for free.(see the bikefriendly places to stay forum)
Have a good trip,
Freek

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
