Shipping Container into Chile

I am shipping a 20' container from the UK to Chile. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has imported a container into Chile. Looking for good agents in Chile who can make life simple for me. I hear port costs are very reasonable in Chile. I'm bringing in a Nissan Frontier / Navara pickup truck with a Honda enduro motorcycle which will be carried on my travels on the rear of the truck on a motorbike carrier. Both vehicles UK registered. Will I have problems crossing borders into Argentina and Bolivia with both of these vehicles registered in my name?

You will not have a problem crossing the borders with the vehicles in your name. Definitely not.

Thanks Lorraine... So just to be absolutely sure I can import 2 UK registered vehicles (car plus bike), both registered in my name, into Chile by container myself... And then take them into Argentina and Bolivia alone... Its just that I heard differently, that I needed to import and cross borders with someone else who would temporarily import 1 vehicle for me, with myself the other vehicle... That would cause a huge inconvenience for me... Also, know any shipping agents who can assist dealing with the container in Valparaiso? Alex...

We used Enzo & Martina from Villa Kunterbunt in Valparaiso for bike import from Aus into Chile. They do a lot of bike imports and exports, particularly for German bikers since Martina in German and they seem to be well known in German biking circles. Also mentioned quite a bit here on HUBB. Here is their basic website:

villa kunterbunt valparaiso chile

All our import and customs paperwork was handled by Enzo, including the TITV temporary import permit, all went very smoothly with no problems. I have no idea if they do cars, their fees for this or about the 2 vehicles border crossing issue you have, but it may be worth emailing and asking Martina, she speaks English & Spanish as well as German.

You may also like to google TITV Chile and read the stuff on Aduana website (ie; Chile customs).

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
