Shipping Malaysia - Indo
Hi All,
Not much recent chat on this on the HUBB that I can find.....
Has anyone caught a ferry between Malaysia and Indonesia recently (2015 onwards)? Can you roll on/off, or do you need separate arrangements for the bike and an agent? etc...?
Any advice most welcome!
Thanks,
Will

Peninsula to Borneo
Talking to the locals , in Feb 2017 , there is apparently a ferry from the peninsula to Borneo, (Malay side).
Not sure on how good the roads are on the Indonesian side of Borneo.
The Malays like to get over to take a tour.

Theres been mentioned many times the alternatives that exists - both on the Horizons Facebooksite and in the "Southern Asia" section on this forum.
1. Mr Lims "Onion boat" from Penang to Belawan near Medan. Its a cargo ship and you will need to fly over yourself. Mr Lim has shipped hundreds of bikes on this stretch so he is very experienced and he knows what he is doing.
2. Passenger ferry from Port Klang to Tanjung Balai (or something like that)
Its a passenger ferry but can take a couple of bikes. Although big bikes like BMWs boxers is said to not fit through the entrance gate.
3. Roro ferry from Port Klang to Borneo Kuching or Kota Kinebalu. And from there you can ride into the indonesian part of Borneo called Kalimantan and take another ferry to Java.
