total cost for fuel!
We did 60K in Africa (2005/2006) through 30 countries so the average price will be representative for other long trips in Africa. From our total cost, Euro 22.000,-, for 1 year, 2 persons, 1 LC HZJ75 (avg 1lt/6.5km) everything included, like visa, maintenance, park fees, unforseen, everything except preparations, we have spent exactly Euro 10.000,- on fuel! So count 50% of your budget for fuel on a 4x4 Africa overland trip, unless your car is much more fuel efficient!
Cheers,
Noel

Fuel prices in each continent on HUBB
Great idea but needs to be up to date.
I've just proposed and kicked off a database for Africa fuel prices here:
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...saharan-africa
I think it would be good to start one on each continent/region and once in a while someone does an alphabetical country summary so its all in one post

Current UK Fuel prices
Unleaded approx 92 Pence a litre in town
Unleaded approx 98 Pence a litre on the motorway
Optimax/Super approx 99 pence a litre in town
Optimax/Super approx 110 pence a litre on the motorway
Diesel approx 94 Pence a litre in town
Diesel approx 99 Pence a litre on the motorway
If possible never buy fuel on a motorway in the UK! Most exit ramps will have a fuel staion with 1 mile, usually a lot less.
These prices are based on Shell stations in Berkshire, but does vary from town to town.
If you plan to visit any islands off the UK, including Isle of Wight, Isle of Man or any of the Scottish islands, fill up before you get on the boat as the islands make motorways look cheap!

It varies between states, but not by too much, for eg NSW is about OZ $1.20 - OZ $1.30 per litre for petrol and diesel is normally 0.05 - 0.10 cents per litre more. QUeensland for eg is normally 0.05 cents per litre cheaper(only to be used as estimates)

Current price for diesel is about AU$ 1.70 - AU $1.80 per liter and petrol is AU$1.50 - AU 1.60 per liter.

Yes, that's a 40% increase
The Govt decided to increase price of gas by a shocking 40%
ron 97 : RM 2.70/ltr = US$0.83/l = Euro 0.53 = GBP 0.42/lt
Still among the cheapest in this region but it did shocked the population!!

Hello all,
I think it would be wise to have all data in a central place. Good and simply entry of data, and easy to search. I think posting prices here in this thread is not easy to read, and very difficult to find you country...
So I found this mentioned before on the HUBB, if I'm not mistaken. A very handy site. Although it would be better in US$, or in local currency I think...
the gasoline prises in the world list
now start filling the database...
See you on the road in South America...

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
