Where to find info about different records?

Hi.

I'm trying to find info about various records set by adventure bikers, especially about Swedish/Scandinavians riders, but it's turning out to be quite difficult.

Is anyone sitting on some useful information? Either actual info or just hints about where I should be looking?

The question I would like to have answered most is what's the longest trip done by a Swede/Scandinavian?

Thanks all.
Take care.
/Fredrik

It may be slightly obvious but a good place to start would be the Guinness World Records people over at Guinness World Records - Landing Page

Perhaps if you contacted them directly they could help you be more specific about the nationality of the record holders.

This may not be what you want, but from personal knowledge , a Swede by the name of Ola Gunnarsson. rode for 19 hours non stop to get to the Hamm rallye last year. his rat bike is powered by a small diesel engine. more info here

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated.

I've tried looking on the Guiness site but found nothing useful. *I haven't tried contacting them though. Sounds like it's worth a try.

Oldbmw - Not really the info I'm looking for but I still enjoyed it, thanks 19 hours is quite a lot further than I've done myself. I have an Australian friend who did 1100 miles in one sitting. Probably not close to some sort of record but for me it's still impressive.

I don't know about records, but Helga Pedersen(Norweigen) chopped his way through the Darien Gap some years ago with his BMW, and I also recall a Swedish Dakar competitor who after finishing the Rally turned around and rode his bike back home.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
