Hi Wildman,
I really liked the picture of your impromptu HU gathering in Ulan-Ude. There is only 2 faces that I didn't met during my own trip, Sam and you. (I think)
Here is my travel blog, unfortunately it's in French : wikibernard.be/blog
But ! I'm busy translating it in English and posting it on ADVRider : A dog with a hat - From Belgium to Mongolia on a KLR | Adventure Rider

@kurvenfieber. and for the attention of everybody who will head east.
1-Trabzon sochi ferry is nomore available.you will take the sarp bordergate to georgia then kazbegi gate to russia..gate visa for georgia and armenia is available for almost all citizenships if you wish to visit them as a bonus..
2-If you plan to go through iran, best and most safe border gate to leave turkey is doğubeyazıt/bazargan, the most northern one..It seems syria problem will continue for several more years so military operations in east and south east anatolia will continue too.
All additional questions always welcome..
All the best..

Thanks a lot for your comments, I didn´t know the ferry was closed.
Well I would love to visit Georgia anyway. So that´s a good possibilty to visit one of the rare shelters for people with mental and/or physical challenges.
A friend worked there for 1.5 years and was full of empathy for the country and the pople.

Start: Mid june 2016 from London (well near London!)
Cross Europe: still undecided but if weather not too bad go via Scandinavia, Finland into Murmansk Peninsula (Russia), near the Arctic circle.
Alternative will be via Poland and Baltic states into Russia.
Then my flexible itinerary through Northern Russia:
From Arkhangeslk, we can either ride to Ukhta, Khulimssunt to Yugorsk then pick up main road to Khanty Mansiysk or From Kotlas ride East and south via Kuratovo, Kyygorodok, Kazhym, Seva, Kudymkar to Perm.
From Perm, east and North via Lysva, Kushva, Yugorsk to Khanty Mansiysk. Then via Surgut to Nizhnevartovsk. Then from there take the ferry to Tomsk.
From Tomsk, explore further the Altai and Tuva, then back track and cross Kazakhstan, then explore further Kyrgyzstan.
IF time we will venture into Tajikistan and end in Bishkek where we meet with the Chris and his truck on the 15th of Sept. We fly back from Bishkek, while our bikes make it on the back of the truck.

I am an Australian riding a DL650 - I am seeking to join tours through China and Myanmar, and keen to share any part of the trip with fellow travelers going the same way.
Itinerary and dates are not set in stone - ping me if you want to join for any part of the trip!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
