Thumbs up 30th Birthday in Iran

G'day all

Have just overstayed my transit visa in Azerbaijan and am heading to Iran in a few days.

It's my 30 birthday on 1 November, and if I don't end up on prison I would love to celebrate my birthday with some fellow bikers on the road in Iran. I don't even have a map of Iran yet (was a last minute decision to go there, can't find a map in Baku), so not sure where to go for the big day.

Anybody up for a with a lonely Aussie on a Honda Africa Twin?

Tracey

Astara

Hey Joe!

Am crossing at Astara. I still can't find a map here in Baku and the internet connection here is dial up so no google earth, so I have no idea where Muka is.
I will get a map either at a truckie stop on the way down the coast or once I get to Iran.
Have heard Takhte Soleiman (Takt-i-Taqdis) on Holy Mountain of Shaz, south of Miyaneh, west of Zanjan, near Takab is supposed to be worth a visit. Is that in the same direction?
Don't mind heading to Muka either way.

Hey Joe

Will leave Baku tomorrow, and may cross the border same day. But, it took me 12 hours to cross the border coming in. Going out, I will have to deal with the fact that I have overstayed my visa, and on top of that, when entering Iran, I will have to deal with the fact that I have no carnet. So what I will do is send an email from somewhere across the border. Maybe Tabriz, if things go well.
My email is camtracey-at- gmail-dot-com
I see your crossing Sunday direction Maku, so that gives me a day to get things sorted and contact you.
Wish me luck, (will briefly check my emails later tonight if you have any updates)

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
