Albania mid-late June 2009

I'm currently travelling round eastern Europe on my own, and although I haven't had any problems so far was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining me for Albania in particular (or anywhere else if you fancy!). Several of the places I want to see are quite remote, and roads are not good, so I'm really looking at having someone else with me so that I can explore without having to be overly worried about having a spill when on my own.

I'm on a 650 TA, camping mostly but with cheap hotels as an option. I'm currently in Romania, few more days here then Serbia, Macedonia, Albania. I have a blog here so you can get an idea of the trip so far!

PM me if interested!

Laura

I've now met a couple of travellers who have been to Albania so could give me sopme more information about roads, however if anyone is in the area, I'll be hanging around Lake Ohrid for a few days at the end of this week, on the Macedonian side, then crossing over to Albania!

The worst roads are to be found in Tirana where you will have enough problems with the crazy driving but watchout for missing manhole covers - I saw several places where I could easily have ended up in hospital with a wrecked bike! The rest of the roads were ok - I rode from the Montenegro coast through Tirana, Elbasan and then Ohrid in March.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
