^ That quote I wrote on another thread.
If you want the barge it is REALLY worth your while contacting Mazar/Midhat in advance. They're the boys, will sort absolutely everything out for you in Wadi Halfa. Yeah you gotta pay them a fee, but it aint so much and boy it makes your life so much easier (if you can speak arabic you might get by on your own).
Basically by just turning up for the barge is a little risky. You could get there and it be full, therefore you'll wait a number of days. You could get there and there is nobody else to share with you......option is therefore to charter the barge (expensive), or wait until others do turn up to share the cost.
I understand they no longer let you sail with your vehicle on the barge? I managed it once but have been told since they wont let you.
Last number I had for Midhat (he is in Khartoum and runs the agency) was +249 912253484, email: midhat.sudan@gmail.com
For Mizur (Midhats brother or nephew?) (perhaps spelt Mazar?, he is in Wadi Halfa) I had 2 numbers:
+24 9122380740, +24 9122181886
I also have Magdy Boshara details (he is in Wadi Halfa) but I never used him. Seems like a nice guy though:
+24 9121730885 or email nubatia51@yaoo.com
