Hey Kids,

How is it?

I'll be back in Costa Rica early next week, based in Atenas and on the beach for a while, heading into Nicaragua early March. Keep in touch and we'll have a drink and a natter.

Chau, suerte, Dan

I'm leaving Belize in the next few days and whipping through Guatamala and Honduras to get to Nicaragua. Aiming for an area near the Costa Rican border.

Dan,
We are in Granada until Saturday and then heading south, probably to San Juan del Sur for a few n ights after that. Have you headed north yet?

Lorraine,
Watch the money exchangers going from Guatemala into Honduras as they show you a good rate but then use another one to actual do the deal. Best advice is to know how many Limpuras you should get for your money BEFORE you get to the border.

We will slow down a lot in Costa Rica so hopefully we can hook-up!

Carry your own little handheld calculator, ask what the exchange rate is and do the math yourself and show the guy how much he owes you. Conversely insist that he do the conversion with you watching the figures as he does it , correctly!. It is somewhat of a carnival game with numbers if they try to fool you.Best bet is to keep these transactions to the bare minimum needs for border crossing fees or to dispose of remnant cash as you exit the country for the last time. Visit the automatic bank machines for the big withdrawals and get the best exchange rate..

Hello, sorry for the late reply. I've been on the road since right after Christmas and, for better or worse, I hit my turnaround in Panama City and now I'm headed back. I'll be in Turrialba, Costa Rica for 5 weeks starting tomorrow. If anyone will be nearby, give me an email.

OK, I've had trouble tearing myself away from Belize, but after doing email, I'm finally heading for the Guat border! I should be in Nicaragua in five days! Hope to see you soon!
Lorraine

Hi Lizanne!
Good to hear from a fellow Denverite. We are currently camped next to the Arenal volcano in Costa Rica and are heading to San Jose next week. We rode past Leon a week or so ago so perhaps we saw your mango farm. Then again there are A LOT of mangos down here. Unless you ride like the wind I doubt if we will meet as we are planning to hit Tierra del Fuego this summer.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
