April 2011 - Nepal - China - Laos
Hello everyone, I am looking for others to (hopefully) share the cost of Chinese guides so can keep going overland from Nepal to Laos. Have heard mixed reports from people, everyone has a friend of a friend with vague info. From what I can gather Nepal / Tibet / China / Laos is possible but pricey for a guide, but that price can be share with up to three vehicles.
I am currently in India until March 14th when must enter Nepal. Preferred date for leaving Nepal is when the weather isn't so harsh (how harsh it is I don't really know but am assuming), so that could be end of March to end of April.
Travelling with wife and daughter (she'll be 3years old then) in a VW camper.
Anyone welcome, bikers / cars / vans.
Cheers
Martin

Hi there,
we're a swiss couple also seeking travellers to share a guide, but originally planned to head back to Europe. Now we may change our plans and go forward to Laos...
Would be nice to get in touch with you, we're already gathering informations about that trip. We're currently staying at Agonda/Goa, -where are you ?
would be nice to hear from you!

Just sent you an email but will include it here as well.
We are in Vagator and were planning to head down to Agonda after Anjuna. We might know another family (couple with two children) who are looking to go through China, but last time we spoke they were swinging more towards the shipping Chennai -> Malaysia route.

incase anyone else sees this and hasn't pm'd me or mailed me.
costs are looking like about 1400-1600euros upfront for the permission fees, then additional 50-60euros per day (both costs per vehicle), is cheaper if two vehicles go, then cheaper again if 3 go.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
