Argentina-Colombia late '11/early '12 - Travelling Buddies

Hi I will be travelling south from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia (nov/dec '11) then north up Sth America to Colombia early next year.

Looking for HU meets/travelling buddies/events/anything.

Also looking at purchasing bike in Argentina (preferably BuesAires) sometime in the next 2 months (se/oct '11). KLR 650 or similar with hard panniers.

Anyone with similar plans, would love to hear from you.

Hey amigo!

My friend and I are currently traveling South. We'll be in Bogota by the 22nd of August, and at least I will be in Cusco, Peru by Sept. 19th.

Between then and Dec 10th, anything goes.

Dec. 11th, 2011, I'll be in Buenos Aires (or earlier) and within days I'll be riding south to Ushuaia and back to B.A.

If you wait. I'll even sell you my bike when I get there. (2007 Suzuki DR650)

Keep in touch man!

Hi Max, I hope to be in BA the middle of Sep. before drifting south to the Valdes for the whales then head south to the bottom before turning north and catching the Argentina HU meet. Then carry on slowly north. I think there is going to be a few riders about. Ride safe.

Hi Mike,

Great news!
I'm arriving solo in BA next week from New Zealand.
Staying there for Sep/Oct but plan to catch the Argentina HU meet (where can I find more info about that?).

Hopefully I'll catch up for the trip north. I plan to take my time too, maybe 4-6 months going north, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, want to cut into the amazon from the Peruvian side too, Colombia. End up in Venezuela and catch a boat round to Panama.

Max

Leaving Rosario, Argentina going north in November.

I'll be resuming my attempt at riding south to north back to the United States this November to April. I've been chipping away at it for the past two years having rode Argintina, Chile, and Uruguay. I plan on riding parts of southern Brazil for a month then heading across to Bolivia/Peru/Northern Chile. My bike is stored in Rosario, Argentina and hope to follow along with some other riders going north from time to time.

Looks like it may end up as a more the merrier in SA. I fly into BA on the 13th Sep. and the plan is to pick up my bike at the cargo shed the same day. Initially I hope to stay in BA probably at Dakar Motos for a week or so then down to the Valdes for the whales, down to the bottom then drift north. The Argentina HU meet is usually about a week into December and is held over a weekend at Viedma about halfway(ish) between BA and Valdes. I then hope to have a mooch around Brazil with maybe a visit to Rio for the Carnival but I am open to advice about that. I know Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Equador and Colombia quite well but Brazil and the east coast is a bit of a mystery to me as yet. If all goes well I hope to end up in the newly brown Great White North for spring '12 before heading back to Scotland from Halifax NS. Quite happy to ride solo most days but happier still to spend the evenings drinking in company. Ride safe.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
