Hi Shane,
Clearing customs was no problem. We just took our bikes to Customs house in the city with our carnet and they stamped it and off we went and delivered the bikes to Toll with some tie down straps to secure the bikes in the shipping container.
All that only takes half a day but like I think you know now if the sail date is 19th Toll will want the bike by the 14th so they can load it in the container and the container on the ship. Sometimes the ship may sail early so Toll needs to be prepared for that too.
Hope your not getting to wet
Brian

Haven't booked my flight yet, Air north seems to have a fairly regular service so I don't think it should be a problem, catch you when you get here!

Hey Shane,
new plans!, I'm doing air freight from Darwin to Denpasar on Monday the 7th with tolls. Toll (perkins) shipping kept getting later every time I spoke to them, now the boat doesn't leave until the 21st...if you want to do the same contact Graeme Lee on 89273555 he's in the Toll air freight depot at the airport, good guy, no mucking around! but you will have to get a DG cert from RGM in Winnellie, you need to talk to Charlie or Shaun at RGM on 89475222.
Cheers Lee.

Much appreciated Lee thanks for the info.
Im having a great time here in Alice Springs so I think Ill take the boat option. At this stage. Where will you head after Indonesia? I would love to cross Myanmar with a group. If I could find a group to cross Myanmar I would certainly fly straight to Bali but with no hope of finding a group Illl just take my time through Indo, Thailand and fly from BKK to Nepal hopefully before the summer is over

Cheers Lee.

Hello Ryan,
I couldn't wait around for Perkins, last I spoke with them the ship wouldn't sail until the 21st so I ended up getting air freight from Darwin to Denpasar, so I should be picking up my bike tomorrow and heading north soon....catch you up if your around!
Cheers Lee

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
