bike to bike radio
Me and a couple of friends are planning a 3 month trip around europe and we're having problems deceiding what radios are best to get to communicate with each other.
We really want them to be powered by the bike as we don't want to keep buying batteries. Can anyone suggest a good radio set or ones that they have used in the past. all help appreciated.

Autocom are the establish market leaders and their kit is superb but very very expensive about £300 per rider.
I used a NADY systeme that uses rebadges Motorla radios and they are fine but I use the PTT system not Vox.They are 130 per set. see link

Remeber if you are travelling far afeild to hide your radios well at boarders or the tend to attract attention as the equipment used by terrorists or spys. I would adivse a cheaper system that if it is taken will not break the bank.

We have Autocom systems and they are excellent, well worth the money in my opinion. They take a bit of setting up, but once you've got them sorted they are crystal clear, even at high speed, and it's easy to hard wire them into the bike's loom so that you don't have to worry about batteries.
I mounted the control box and radios under the seats in the tool tray (we have BMW boxers) to keep them out of view and didn't have any trouble at all with border crossings.
I also got a lead to plug in my Minidisc player, so now I have music on the move.
Hope that's useful,
Harvey

cheers for the advice guys, I really wish we could afford the autocom but checked out their website and it just seems out of our price range(we're on a tight budget). Think we'll go for the nady system and wire it into the bike battery. Thanks again.
