Canada to Argentina - en route now
Hi folks,
I have made it to Cartagena, Colombia after leaving the safety and security of my home in Victoria, British Columbia on 22 January, 2009.
Over the past 3 months I have crossed 8 borders and never been mugged, beaten or robbed, unless you count the border abuse or the bribe that was squeezed from me by a Panamanian traffic cop.
I have logged over 17,000 kms since departure and will continue from Cartagena towards Tierra del Fuego on or about April 25th.
I am casting my net in an attempt to identify any adventurers traveling in these parts that may wish to meet for a and exchange war stories or ride parts of South America together.
I am riding a 2007 KTM 990Adventure that has never let me down except at the gas pumps. I love the bike but must stop for gas every 240 kms. It will probably need a tune-up and some new rubber, somewhere in Peru. After TDF the intention is to get to Buenos Aires by early July and ship the bike to Australia. RTWers more than welcome but I won’t be continuing from Australia until late December 2009.
Ride Intentions - 500km days max. Avoid night riding like the plague. Take a rest day after every 2 or 3 days riding and enjoy the sites. Staying at hotels/motels and hostels. Not traveling with camping equipment.
Let me know if you are out there and would like to get together.
Cheers
Randy
