Ride Far,

Our start dates are a few weeks off, but I do tend to take my time in places, so I think you may catch up, ha. I also have some friends in South Africa and a few paperwork things to deal with so I may drag my feet leaving. Right now I plan on arriving in Egypt around Late January-February of 2016.

Hi Jmi, just a quick update.
I am defiantly going to leave South Africa in April, reach Europe in summer.
How are your plans coming along ?

Hi Jmi…. sure, I’m full speed ahead on the ride and gearing up to arrive in South Africa in late September and start the adventure

From HUBB and Facebook, I’ve counted about eight to 10 overlanders, both bikes and 4x4s, heading northeast toward Egypt at about the same time, so it should be a decent stream of adventurer traffic in that direction.

Hi Mark,

Just a quickie to say don't give up on me. My cylinder kit is being worked on at M-Tech out in Bend, OR as we speak, and both my shocks are currently being rebuilt in NC. What a guy has to do!!!

Hi Mark (Ride Far)

Ive put a map up of what I intend to do on another post. I think if it all goes well I should pop out in Zambia around end of September. As you can see from my route I then plan to head back north so I can do the east side of Lake Tanganyika which Ive wanted to do ever since working out there and also up to Kenya to go to Sibiloi National Park up near lake Turkana Kenya.

I then will head back south and down the east side of Mozambique.

Hoping we can catch up for a or two. Hope you enjoyed the blog I sent you.

If there is anyone else keen to catch up and do this you can check out my post on here Morocco to Cape Town starting July 7 or my blog.

Hey Pat, sounds good. If you enter Zambia in late September it would be close, as I plan to to arrive in Jo'burg in late September. Hopefully you'll get stuck in the mud and delayed on the track to Lubumbashi... no, wait... just kidding!

JoBurg to Kenya and back

Hi everyone.

Hope to fly to Joburg end of October, buy bikes and ride up to Kenya and back (seems so easy!). Plans are progressing slowly. Would be great to meet up with anyone else doing similar.

Hey Jmi... not sure if it's a good idea to post emails on a public thread, but I sent you a PM and yes, we can start email exchange among you, Crawford, me and anyone else interested.

I don't have your email address yet, but you'll have mine in the PM, so email me and we'll get this thing rolling.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
