Capetown to Cairo Start in November/Dec 2011

Hi All!

My name is Anthony Schwartz and I'm new to the forum!

I am a recently graduated 24 year old Biomedical Engineer from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Recently, I have traveled 12 months from Mexico through Central America and into South America by hitchiking, buses, large and small boats by river and ocean.

I'll be flying into Capetown the 11th of September from Buenos Aires. Will then search for a bike to buy (KLR650) and the proper gear to outfit it. I'm assuming it will be late November to December sometime before I will embark on my journey north.

I have a direction but not necessarily a destination. Time is more or less open, as I don't really mind when I get back to the States, so I'm extremely flexible in that regard.

I would love to meet up with a few people along the way or if there is somebody who would like to accompany me I'm sure we can work working out!

Please email me if you're interested! I'll do my best to keep up with this thread if I get some feedback with interested people!

Thanks!!
Anthony

Cape Town to Nairobi mid november

Hi Anthony,
our dates of travelling seem to approximate closest as from what I collect from this forum.
Let me me know if you're interested in travelling together.
(Male, 45, 1 Child, Geopysicist, fixed travel dates)
after travelling from Germany to Cape Town via West Africa I plan to travel northwards along the eastern route.
The plan is to start in Cape Town mid november and arrive in Nairobi 5 weeks later.
The loose schedule for the trip is Makgadikgadi salt pans in Botswana, Chobe National Park. Lower Zambesi National Park
in Zambia where I would like to go on a 3-4 day canoe trip including Mana Pools in Zimbabwe. Then turn east to Malawi
and cross into Tanzania northwards along Lake Tanzania and if time remains into the Ruwenzori mountains.

Who we be travelling aoround this time on a similar schedule and likes to join?
I am flexible according to the route but not to the time window.
regards
Mike

Hi Anthony.
I'm doing the same trip but North to South, leaving early January 2012. Im flexible with dates and destinations as I'm taking 7 months or more, so maybe we could meet in the middle somewhere.
Thanks, Callum.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
