China Crossing - KKH to Kyrgyzstan July/Aug/Sept 2016
Hi guys,
I know this is early, but I figure the more time the better. A friend and I are planning on crossing from Pakistan into China via the KKH, then travelling through Kashgar to exit into Kyrgyzstan. We are planning to arrive in Malaysia in early March next year and then spend a couple of months travelling Southeast Asia, then Nepal, into India and Pakistan. We are looking at spending 5-7 days in China, and are looking at sharing the costs as much as possible.

Hi,
Likewise, we are also travelling through Southeast Asia and into Europe. We're also looking for a group to travel across Myanmar with, probably about mid-late May.
We're fairly open to dates for crossing China, but are thinking around the beginning of August now, and for 4-5 days. We have a quote for $1950USD for the two of us, so should be a bit cheaper with more people.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi,
Sorry I think we are looking at crossing more in early August rather than July now, as we want to spend some more time in India/Pakistan, after looking at a time table more closely. Keep in touch though if this would suit you guys.
Thanks,
Mike

Dear Mike,
I totally understand that you want to spent more time there, i'd love to spent more time in Pakistan as well but our schedule is a little tight, we allow ourselves 4 months to cross from Delhi to Istanbul, starting first of July and hopefully arriving in Istanbul the first of November.
Enjoy your journey, I hope that you'll find some riders to cross with you.
Sincerely,
Léopold

China Crossing
Mike - Are you and your buddy still planning on crossing China around beginning of August? If so, my fiancé and I might be interested in joining. We are in SE Asia now and driving a land cruiser.

Hi Shannon,
Yes we are still looking at crossing in Early August, probably in the first week or so. It would be great to have other people to share the costs with if that also suits you.
Cheers,
Mike

Possibly interested...
Hi All,
We are Peter and Leonie and we are travelling on two motorbikes. We would like to cross from Pakistan through China to Kyrgyzstan a bit sooner than August, maybe even in June.
But if for some reason there is no tour in June, we would be interested to join any tour after June. If you still need more travellers, you can keep us in mind. ( leonie AT amsterdamtoanywhere DOT nl )
Safe travels, Leonie

Love to join
Hey,
Looks like there are a few of you crossing China. Hoping you have room for one more bike! Early August would work out perfectly for me. Is that still your plan?
Might be easier to keep in touch via email, as suggested above. Mine is: chantal.c.simons@gmail.com.
Curious to hear your plans!
Happy Travelling

Hey everyone,
Looks like y'all planning to cross a little earlier, but if anyone changes plans I am hoping to cross in late September/mid October (working around the chinese holidays).
Would be great to have a crew!

The Itinerary
Hi everyone I'm Asher, the other half of the duo trying to organise this crossing through China.
After some fiddling with the dates, prices, visas and communication with our guy in China and also some of you guys, here is our proposed itinerary.
August 1st (enter China from Pakistan via Khunjerab Pass) - August 5th (leave China and enter Kyrgyzstan via Tourgat Pass).
These dates are unfortunately not negotiable, the borders are closed on weekends and so this will be the only way we can schedule this.
In detail
Aug 1: meet our guide in Pakistan side of border who will escort us through into China.
Aug 2: paperwork, licenses, and (hopefully) start on our way into Kashgar.
Aug 3: arrive in Kashgar
Aug 4: explore Kashgar (this is optional - we thought it would be nice to at least have one day in China where we could check the place out. An additional extra would be paying a guide $100usd per person to show us around, but we prefer to explore by ourselves and not pay anyone).
Aug 5: leave Kashgar, travel to Kyrgyzstan border and cross.
There is some bad news: this is going to be bloody expensive. When we first got our quote it was mid last year, and it was between 600-900 per bike/driver depending on numbers. However, apparently early this year there has been a big increase in tariffs, and now it is really hurting our bank balance.
2 motorcycles is 3138 USD
3 motorcycles is 4188 USD
4 motorcycles is 5288 USD
5 motorcycles is 6288 USD
6 motorcycles is 7188 USD
7 motorcycles is 8088 USD...
And so forth. So naturally we are trying to get as many people on board as we can! Prices for other overland vehicles are a little different but not drastically so.
So far we have 3 motorcycle riders essentially confirmed, 3 campers/land rovers interested but not confirmed, as well as another motorcycle interested. Let's see if we can get a small horde together...
Our guide seems like a good sort, he has been very helpful so far and very apologetic about the price hike. He needs to have all of our paperwork, including visas, sorted by 1 month prior to entering, so if you are thinking about joining us then get in touch and let's make it happen!
Probably easiest to post on this thread, or contact myself at ashergkhenry@gmail.com, or Mike at mpjordan9@gmail.com
Cheers
Asher

An amendment to our previous dates. Mike and I are now only able to go through from August 8th - August 12th.

Hi there!
We are also planning to cross China from Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan, late August to mid September (flexible dates...) and looking to join a group or make a new one.
We could delay until late September, but October is too late for us.
If anyone has delayed their crossing plans, please post it!
Thanks!
Sergi
