China Crossing (Pakistan > Kyrgystan) — Aug/Sept 2019
Edit: April 10. See recent posts at bottom of thread for updates
_____________________
Hey all,
We are two Australians on one motorbike planning to cross from Khunjerab Pass in Pakistan, through China, and out into Kyrgystan in August or September this year.
We've got quotes from all the reputable companies that organise this 5 day self-driving trip — now we are just looking for others to share the road and the cost.
At the moment we are pretty flexible with exact dates — we can probably make any time from late August to late September work. We also don't mind whether we leave China via Tourgat or Irkeshtam crossings, though it sounds like Irkeshtam is a lot less hassle.
Get in touch if you think this might fit your plans
Jack

Hej Jack!
How about your current travel plans. Did they chance concerning the current political situation in Pakistan and India? Are you planning an alternative route in case the borders are closed?
We are planning to cross Kyrgyztan-China-Pakistan-India with our Mitsubishi L300, but later around October.
All the best,
Johanna

No change of plans for now — I haven't heard anything about those borders closing. Have you heard something?
From what I can tell, the Wagah crossing has stayed open throughout conflicts before, I imagine it will stay open unless the conflict significantly escalates.

Hey everyone, OP here with an update...
Looks like crossing will be 19-22 August 2019. (Khunjerab to Irkeshtam).
So far, there are 5 vehicles in our group, and a few more 'maybes' — so the cost is getting quite acceptable!
We are leaning towards going with West China Expeditions, and it looks like it'll be around 1100 USD per vehicle which includes accomm and LOI for China.
If you think this might link up well with your plans, PM me or join our facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1990667254572822/

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
