I guess we need to start thinking about picking a date...
My plan was to enter China at the start of September as from my research this would be after the worst of the rain and landslides and before it got too cold. I am happy to push this a little later but not much past the start of October.
Thoughts?

I spoke to NAVO last year and the cost in 2013 for 1 bike on a 5 day itinerary including guides accommodation and transport (not including my own accommodation) would have been £2170
The breakdown was as follows
£500 Supporting Vehicle
£1670 Permit, Guid, Paperwork
Further breakdown of Permit, Guid, Paperwork cost.
Permtis 38 % (permits, provincial permits)
- Custom process 9% (custom process and paperwork at entry and exit ports)
- Cost for vehicles 8% (including the translation, paperwork, vehicle checking, compulsory insurance, temporary vehicle license and plates)
- Cost for drivers 8% (paperwork, photo, translation paperwork, process and temporary driving license)
NAVO's service fee 32-33% (including one guide's salary and all NAVO service from start to the tour ends when you exit China)
Cost for guide 2.5--6% (guide's meal, accommodation)
I have generally read good things about NAVO and they gave me the most detail when I spoke with them last year so I would be happy choosing them.
I think it makes more sense if just one person contacts them for the group, I am happy to do this unless someone else wants to?

Now then, good idea moving to a separate post. To keep things simple in my head I've been breaking down my route into one month chunks, and I had planned the crossing for the 1st September so that fits perfectly. Also means by the time I make to India the monsoon will hopefully be on the retreat.
Just echoing what you've both said already Bing sent me this.
1. If there are 4 bikes in the group, the quote is CNY 7,900 for each rider+bike.
2. If there are 3 bikes in the group, the quote is CNY 9,300 for each rider+bike.
3. If there are 2 bikes in the group, the quote is CNY 12,000 for each rider+bike.
4. If there are 1 bikes in the group, the quote is CNY 18,300 for each rider+bike.
Terms and conditions
Includes
1. All the paperwork needed for self-riding tour (national & provincial permits)
2. Cost for vehicle (Temporary driving license for vehicle, temporary vehicle number plate and insurance for vehicles.)
3. Cost for drivers ( Temporary driving license for driver)
4. Navo’s service charge ( Include the English-speaking guide, documents translation, tour organization etc.)
5. The rent, road toll, fuel for our escort vehicle.
6. The process fee for Customs clearance when enter/exit China.
7. Travel insurance for all travelers and guide.
Kim I'm quite happy for you to be our contact. My Chinese isn't that good!
All I need now is a bike, I've two weeks off work with intention of getting a DRZ sorted, three absolute belters spotted earlier and all of them sold in the last 24hrs.

Had exactly the same quote from Bing for 4/5 bikes happy with that but he seems to think he may have others on the hook too happy to let Kim be the contact if he wants to do it.
Looks like we might be moving forward which is great. Now all I need to do is get a grou together to go thru Myanmar in October! talk soon.

I think I can remember 4 Mandarin words, not going to be much use...
I will contact NAVO and let them know we are all together.
Sinky57 & LosJuajos can you PM me either the names or email address you used to contact NAVO? Just so they can identify you, I am sure they don't know you as Sinky57 & LosJuajos.
For now I will use the provisional date of 1st September.
