China Guide Share - KKH - Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan September/October 2016

Will be heading west from Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan via Karakorum Highway.
If anyone has similar plans, would be awesome to get a group together for crossing China September/October 2016.

Might join you...

Hey,

Do you have a more defined schedule yet? I'm looking into crossing China the same direction, probably in August... But early September might also be an option. Curious to hear from you.

Happy travels
Chantal

Hey Chantal,
Good to hear from you! It's likely I wont be able to cross until late September but things could change so will keep in contact.
Have got a few crazy expensive quotes from tour companies, they all need about two months in advance to organise all the paperwork so will have to confirm dates and plans by june/july.
Plan B is to get the bike freighted across to Kyrgyzstan.

Will keep in touch!

Cheers
Luke

Hi there!

We are also planning to cross China from Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan, late August to mid September (flexible dates...) and looking to join a group or make a new one.
We could delay until late September, but October is too late for us.

Thanks!

Us again. The tour company we've found is the cheapest according to a few others who did the research before us, Kashgar Newland Travel. They need 40 days notice, we're looking at crossing late September. Prices are on our other thread, sorry forgot to copy them.

Hey!
Late September is also good for us, as well as the tour company.
Keep in touch.

Bind

Hey Luke and Sergi!

Just hit a major kink in plans. Me and 3 others are supposed to be making the crossing in 12 days but the other 3 are already in Pakistan and they just got refused Chinese visas. As you can imagine HUGE problem. Much more for them but I'm now at a bit of a loose end...

I haven't entered Pakistan yet and still have plenty of time on my visas. But in the next 3-5 days gonna have to make some tough calls about whether to just go for it and potentially end up having to go solo or postponing.

Very interested to know your plans. Where are you up to?

Hi!

We are already in Pakistan, enough time in our visa to wait to join a group for September. Also applied the reference code for Iran visa, just in case China crossing becomes unaffordable.
For Chinese visa, is this rule only for Pakistan tourist visa holders? Anybody knows?
Keep in touch! And waiting to make a group as big as possible!

Hi, are you the Spanish couple we met on the road? I'm the aussie guy from the passport check on the road (...was it near Gilgit? Can't even remember). Anyway, obviously the guys got their Chinese visas with a support letter from their embassies and we've since made the crossing.

Kashgar Newland Travel proved to be a bit of a let down. They got us across china but that was absolutely all.

Hope the travel's going well!

Hi StepTrhru.....

You wrote:

I totally agree with this opinion, I've contacted them about our trip in Xinjiang with our cars(spring 2017).

But I have a problem with them: they don't want we make camping (sleeping in our cars) some times along our trip....

And some other agencies (more expensive) told us it is possible in some places (especially around Taklamakan and Lake Karakol,Bostan...).

So, please, can you tell me if you have managed this problem (Bivouacs in the wild) with them?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

RR.

Hi everybody,

We finally got the Iran visa, so we are going south, not to China.
Sorry for inconvenience!

Best wishes and safe driving/riding!
