China – Laos June 2014 via the Silk Road and Tibet
Hi Everyone,
We are a husband and wife travelling from the UK to Australia in a Landrover, departing the UK in spring 2014. We are seeking other vehicles to join us for our China crossing (to share the cost of the guide). Our route is planned for entry through Kyrgyzstan, following parts of the silk route through south western China with a possible stop in Tibet and existing to Laos at Mohan. Approximate entry for China is late June 2014 with 3 – 4 weeks scheduled for our China crossing. Guide costs with two vehicles are estimated around £3k to £4K per vehicle – with many variables yet to be decided.
If anyone is interested in joining us, please be in touch.

Hi,
We are going to do a similar route. Enter from Torugart, Kyrgyzstan, but plan to exit to Hong Kong instead. I've sent you a PM for more information.

Greetings,
I can't find a PM from you but am interested in discussing options. As our destination is Australia, the Laos exist works for us but maybe there is an option to leave us and continue on.
Our tentative entry time for China is around the end of June 2014. Does this fit for you?

Hi Again,
Just found your PM. We are not able to leave the UK until mid May so it appears your schedule will be slightly ahead of us. Beyond that - your routing looks similar. If your plans change - please keep us in mind.

Hi Rayelle
My wife and I are planning to drive our 4x4 Mercedes Sprinter camper / pannel van to Sydney from Ireland next year. This would be via Istanbul, the Stans. Mongolia, China and Malaysia. I have been looking at the costs and China is expensive to get a vehicle into. If we could join a group, this would make it a lot cheaper.
The timeing would idealy be to leave Ireland around March and be in Mongolia June 2014.

Hi Trevor
Presently our plans are to enter china via Kyrgyzstan around the mid to end of June 2014 for a 3-4 week crossing. I'm not sure joining up from Mongolia would make sense. If feasible for you, we would be happy to discuss further.

Travel group selfdrive China
Hi RayL,
what is your present status of planning? Have you already confirmed your trip with a travel agency? What is your scheduled entry date? Did you find other people to share the costs.
We want to do exactly the same trip (enter Torugart, travel through Tibet and exit to Laos). If we form a group to share costs, we could postpone our entry date from mid May to beginning of June or so.
We already wrote you a PM.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

All go
Hi Jo,
We have confirmed plans now for transiting China. We will enter from Kyrgystans (Torugart-Kashgar) on June 17th travelling south east to exit into Laos on July 10th 2014.
We have two vehicles (4x4s) currently signed up, us and two younger guys(not that we're old...) from the UK as well. Our tour company is NAVO.
We would welcome another vehicle - if the dates suit.
We have incorporated some fundraising into our trip. Further details are available on Rayelle Pentland-Smith is fundraising for Meningitis Now. Feel free to have a look.
I look forward to hearing from you.
